i’m a linux wh0re now

Subject says it all…

I’ve ditched my Microsoft OS in favour of the awesome Linux Operating System. I’ve been running it as an internet gateway for over 2.5 years now, so its only fitting that with the immenent approach of that gay looking Windows XP that I switch over to a real OS that can quench all of my computing needs…

I’ve had it installed on my personal workstation for 2 days now, and I’m just so impressed with its performance and functionality compared to the pervious Microsoft Windows 2000 install that i had… i’m even lost for words…

I’ve been seduced by the dark side… and enjoying every minute of it *uNF* :-)

damn microsoft products

Just spent a while trying to figure out why outlook 2000 couldn’t even connect to my local .pst file when accessing a ‘snort’ and slug’ folder (Snort being the ‘lightweight intrusion detection system’ and slug being ‘Sydney Linux Users Group’) due to the fact they had over 2200 emails in each of them.

As it turns out I had 3 bad sectors on my hard disk right where my outlook.pst file sat (and it being over 150Mb in size i’m not suprised that it happened to be the file to be hit. I repaired the HDD via the dodgy microsoft scandisk utility, did a repair of my corrupted pst file and upgraded to Office XP of which i can say it looks really REALLY gay :(

So nonetheless I now have an upgraded outlook client, a disk with a few bad sectors (repaired), and more of a reason to convert this final machine of mine over to the linux platform… if only my most played games worked properly under linux :(

Well, I’ve worked hard over the past few days figuring out how to use php, and also deciding on a new ‘attractive’ layout compared to the dodgy plain old one. I myself like it, but if you don’t, you can stick yer head up yer ass :)

boxes finished

I’ve finished rebuilding my linux gateway, and its pretty damn nice :)

VP6 board with dually 733′s, 512Mb ram, 80Gb disks, dual nics.. *jOy*
and now i also have finished building up my old 1.33GHz machine with a new asus a7v133-c board which is performing rather well now, compared to its pain in the arse predecessor the abit kt7a-raid board.

got to give the hercules fortissimo II card a workout though, cause at first glance whilst watching dvd’s it lets out a bit of static when trying to do the low frequencies.. not nice when you are trying to listen to the orgasmic sound of a Ford V8 rumble from the car chase of the movie ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’. Or i might end up going back to the SBLive! series… but we’ll wait and see what happens

update

I know, there’s been a slight ‘delay’ between updates lately, and its due to some really odd work hours where I rarely saw sunlight, and didn’t do much else aside from work and sleep.
I have been preparing to redesign the site, but that has pretty much gotten nowhere, but I DID manage to capture another screenshot if thats any concelation :P
I’m in the middle of building a new internet gateway at home, so that will keep me amused for a week or so as a few boxes become redundant and rebuilds happen all over the place :)
