At last I have gotten off my arse and fixed up the news archives to comply with the new myrddin.org v3 layout.

the ‘journey’ continues…

I found out on Monday that I got into the IBM Linux team after my interview with that team’s manager and team leader the week before!

This is awesome news, I have been wanting to get into this team for over a year.

I have been given a release date from my current team in 4 weeks time, which kinda sucks because considering I’ve just come back from 3 weeks of annual leave I don’t have many projects or other work to hand over… Not to worry, the time will come soon enough. Its just going to be an extremely slow 4 weeks because I really wanted to get right into the good stuff.

hardware supplier

Just thought I’d make my personal hardware supplier happy by posting a news article about him and his company. :-) He’s been whinging yasee because he hasn’t seen many referrals from myrddin.org and is whining like a little girl .. hehe

www.dlink.net.au is my preferred place to purchase computer hardware. www.dlink.net.au have the best prices and have a lot of decent services. I know they provide decent technical support, because I supply them with loads of quality technical information in return for cheaper hardware prices :-)
www.dlink.net.au supply hardware, provide web hosting, internet access (Queensland, Australia only I believe) and technical support for the Gladstone area in Queensland Australia.

**Note: Darren, there.. happy? ;-)

end of holidays

bah, today is the last day of my annual leave. I’m not exactly looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I’ll have an insane amount of email to trawl through which could quite possibly take days. *sighs*

On a better note, you may have noticed that the site has changed! Well, Duh you say. I’ve been needing to update the page for a while now and I have finally done it. Things are a little different on the back end but not much. Its just much easier on the eyes than the last design. I have named it version 3 due to the amount of changes that have been made between v2 and now. enjoy.

Brissie trip

posted @ 10:48 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2003

Just arrived back from a ride on the Kawasaki ZZR250 from Sydney to Brisbane. Spent a little over a week up there, spend most of it just vegging out and cruising about on the bikes. I slugged it out on the bike for 2 days and the better half flew up (I missed out on checking out the Virgin Air Hostesses dammit!).

We stayed with Brett who owns a 2003 Kawasaki ZX6R which is *THE* bike I want to buy when I can legally do so (9 months to do before I have an open licence).

I rode Brett’s ZX6R a few times while I was up there and all I can say is that the bike absolutely rawks!!! By the time you leave 2nd gear you are almost tripple the speed limit. It has so much grunt its unbelieveable and better yet, its VERY comfortable.

The trip back was spanned over two days, approximately 5-6 hours riding time each day. Scored a fine from Mr. Plod on day 1, 119km/h in a 100 zone. $203 fine and 3 points lost, lucky he didn’t lock onto me earlier cause he originally pinged me at 132km/h but didn’t lock onto me until I had jumped on the brakes and slowed down to 119km/h… ahh well, shit happens I guess.

To make the trip back even better, it drizzled and rained the entire way home, even in parts where the road was perfectly dry the drizzle would constantly be hitting my helmet visor, it was as if the bloody rain was following me the entire way home…

I DID manage to do the 1000km trip in 11 hours on the way up which also included at least a 90 minute detour to brissie due to highway road closures caused by bushfires but we won’t talk about the speeds I was doing to accomplish that :P~

I have a week and a half of annual leave to go and intend on doing not much at all in that time, I am very much enjoying the time off :)
