One of my new Electric Yellow Cichlids died a few mins ago :( ((

He’s been rather quiet in the few days since I have had him. It appears he didn’t like the transition to the new environment very well. I noticed over the past 2 days he hadn’t been eating and would hardly move from his little ‘spot’ in the tank.

The other 2 Cichlids I bought from the same aquarium are quite active and happy so it must have just been the one that didn’t take well to the move. Poor little bugger…

Will have to look into getting a replacement Electric Yellow on the weekend if the local Aquarium is open.

more fishy business

I got another 5 cichlids over the weekend. So that makes 8 in total for my tank. They are all settling in pretty well which is kewl. I might try and take a pic of them at some stage, but trying to get them all to sit still and all be in view at the same time is a bit difficult :)

Will prolly be leaving it at 8 fish to the tank, just have to get a few more rocks to get a layered rock landscape for them to play around. At the moment there are 3 medium sized rocks in the tank but i want at least another two rocks and possibly a flat platform to stack another rock onto so they can have fishy fun :)

Its rather amusing as one of the fish, the dominant one of the original 3 fish, has dug himself a hole in the gravel at the base of one of the rocks and sits in the hole. Whenever another fish goes into the hole he chases them away. Its pretty funny to watch.

I never thought that having fish would be so kewl :) I am even looking at getting another tank for some aquatic salt water fish… maybe in about 6 months or so I think.

Things are going pretty well at the moment. The new job is really really interesting which is great! First time I have actually been really interested in what I am doing for a long while. Its great not having to do anything of real significance with microsoft windows.

I am even working back after hours by my own choice just because of the interest factor. *gasp!*

Got a few funky things happening over the next week or so, sexy grid computing using IBM Blade servers, setting up of several x440 servers for multiple tasks for multiple accounts.

I could go on… but I won’t :-)

I’m now permanently located at the IBM head office which isn’t too bad really. The place is rather kewl and I am not even minding the 90 odd kilometers I have to travel each day from home to work and back. I have been doing a bit of the travel on the bike (when the weather isn’t shitty that is) which of course makes the trip a lot quicker, but its very exhausting. Just means I sleep better :-)
