Telstra are a bunch of useless twats!
I finally moved house last week, I’m so glad its all over now. Initially it was a pain in the ass cause I now have a staircase to climb up and down, and considering I’m not exactly the fittest person on the planet, my muscles that I didn’t know existed sure bitched about it ;-P
So whats the go with Telstra? They again have proven to me they are a bunch of useless and incompetent retards… The story starts where we ring up Telstra to get my phone line in the new place enabled and they tell us that the address doesn’t exist. This is because we are in a complex that is L-shaped near the corner of 2 streets. Our postal address is ‘X’ but our utilities like water/electricity/phone is address ‘Y’. This is fair enough, it just meant we had to ring telstra from the actual line in the new place itself so Telstra could figure out where the address is that have it recorded. Once this was figured out we continued to enable the phone service with Telstra, with the ulterior motive for them to tell us straight away if we could get ADSL. The answer to this question was yes! *wOOt!*.
I then went through the motions of getting my ISP to relocate my ADSL connection to the new number, which is actioned by our good friends *cough* Telstra… I might add that this was all done prior to the move.
Sure enough the move goes on, the first thing I set up is the fish tank, and then the computer room. Turning on the ADSL modem I expected to see a nicely lit ‘line sync’ light… instead I am greeted with nothing… *sighs*
Turns out Telstra have a 1.5 week SLA on these requests (mind you I’m still on same telephone exchange). I give it a few days then I get a phonecall from my ISP, it appears Telstra rejected the request after 4 days because my Billing Address that I had with my ISP is not where my phone number is recorded to be at. This is where I get rather pissed off… My ISP have no option but to rectify the address inconsistencies and resubmit the request with Telstra putting me back at the end of the queue… another 1.5 weeks worth of SLA *GRR*
The thing that really pissed me off was the fact that I had organised for the service to be switched from my old phone line to the new one in advance of moving to minimise the outage period. Telstra being the useless fucks that they are couldn’t even figure out that the phone number they were supplied in the relocation request had a different billing address to the address associated to the number in their system. The phone number was even provisioned by Telstra themselves and would have certainly had this relevant information in their system. Instead of figuring this out and honoring the request, they blatantly reject the request back to the ISP. If the voice facility on the phone line was with another service provider then I could understand the confusion but its not, it just goes to show how fucked up those guys are… cmon .. *hello! taps on forehead*
Anyway… Its now been almost 2 weeks with no connectivity so I ended up utilizing the dialup plan that my ISP also offers with their ADSL accounts. For around an extra $20, I get unlimited dialup for the month, but I sure as hell hope those Telstra fuckers get their act together and hook my line up to an ADSL port in the exchange on Monday or I’ll be even more pissed…
One thing I also want to add… dialup is oh sooOOooo fucked up! I can’t believe I once used this shit. I’ve come from 1.5Mb ADSL and now down to dialup speeds and its bloody horrible! Its been 2.5 hours now and fetchmail is *still* pulling down almost 2 weeks worth of mail… I’ll just be glad to get my ADSL back. *whimpers*
