My Stargate Season 8 boxed set arrived today, and of course I’m watching episode 801 now ;) Quite good timing really, I’m currently watching it fullscreen with Totem on one of my dual 19″ monitors, with my other display is busy irc’ing, web browsing and ‘apt-get upgrading’ at time same time (dammit, why can’t i just do one thing at a time?) while my partner watches Australian Idol (blah!) downstairs.

I would normally watch dvd’s with mplayer however I’m kinda paying more attention to Totem in the past few days. No idea why tho, it just grabbed my attention for some obscure reason.

been out fishin’

I picked up a new Shimano 12 foot beach rod and Rhino reel last weekend and ended up yesterday evening heading around the corner to Kurnell. Got a few bites but nothing caught. Mum’s partner who I was fishing with picked up a nice Yellowfin Bream which went really well on the BBQ.

Went out again this morning, but again only locally. Started @ just before high tide under Tom Ugly’s bridge but we were getting nothing and it was too bloody cold. Its amazing how cold it is under a bridge, even standing in the sunlight, the wind tunnel under the bridge had some serious chill factor. Ended up packing things up and heading back to Kurnell where it took bloody 3-4 hours to actually get a single nibble and that was about it. A rather dissapointing effort and so my new rod is still a virgin.. Oh well, lets see what next weekend brings along.

When the weather starts warming up and I start doing earlier starts with work (riding the bike during winter in the early hours is painfully cold, so at the moment i kinda do a later start) I’d get home with enough time to potentially wander down to Kurnell during the week and pick up a few fish in time to whack it on the BBQ ready for when Sara gets home from work.

This is my first time back at fishing for quite some years. I used to always go out to the local rivers and try and catch anything I could, so its kinda good to start up again. It’s nice and relaxing as well and we know how much I enjoy my relaxing weekends away from work these days ;-)
