Oooohh.. fluxbox
After eyeing off dave’s desktop on his work laptop work, I decided to move myself from a gnome/openbox combo to fluxbox on my own. I’ve used fluxbox in the past, especially on my old dodgy laptop but the default configs are pretty minimal, the default themes kinda suck and unless you find the right doco can be a bit of a bitch to configure just the way ya like it.
However… dave had quite a few pointers in the right direction and now i’ve gone from configuring my work laptop to fluxbox to even moving away from my home gnome & nautilus combo to .. yes, you guessed it, fluxbox
*shock horror!* I’ve been a gnome fanatic for such a very long time so its a big thing for me to move my home config to say the least.
I haven’t had really that long to stuff around with it, but I’m more than less satisfied with it on my dualhead system. 2 x 19″ crt’s @ 1600×1200 resolution (yes, one day i’ll get a pair of fat assed 20″+ lcd’s *drools*). Fluxbox does better than most windowmanagers and knows that I have 2 displays and I can tell it exactly where to stick the toolbar
This is normally not an issue when the windowmanager knows you’re using xinerama, but the nvidia twinhead approach always seems to suck on certain other wm’s so this impressed me somewhat
At the moment I’m screwing around, trying to locate a sexy new font for my Eterm’s but once I do I might even take a screeny
